Judgement: the Ultimate Awakening
Oct 21, 2025
There are tarot cards that whisper… and then there are ones that blast a trumpet.
The Judgement card doesn’t tiptoe around, it’s loud, clear, and impossible to ignore. It’s about wake-up calls, big choices, and realising you’re not the same person you used to be. In Lieselle's Eternal Tarot deck, I’ve shaped Judgement around themes of spiritual rebirth, clarity, and stepping into your purpose, but it also carries echoes from the classic Rider-Waite deck.
Let’s take a look at what this powerful card is really saying.
The Judgement card symbolises awakening, transformation, and the call to rise above old limitations. In Lieselle’s Eternal Tarot, the card reflects a turning point, a moment of divine reckoning where the past is no longer a weight, but a lesson. It’s about hearing the call, feeling the shift, and stepping boldly into a new version of yourself.
Symbolism in Lieselle’s Eternal Tarot

Angel Wings
The angel wings represent Archangel Gabriel, the divine messenger. Just as he once announced a world-changing birth, here he calls us toward a spiritual rebirth. The wings are a signal. You’re being asked to rise. To wake up. To respond to something greater.
In the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, Gabriel blows a golden trumpet over open graves. It’s a literal resurrection. In that image, people rise, arms outstretched, answering a cosmic call. That same call rings through in this card: rise up and become who you truly are.
The Sun
The sun represents illumination, resurrection, and clarity. When you're going through a transformation, light matters. It reveals the truth and helps burn away what no longer belongs.
Rider-Waite symbolism places mountains and bright skies in the background, hinting that enlightenment isn’t just emotional or spiritual, it’s also about reaching new heights. Your awakening clears the fog. What was once hidden now becomes obvious.
New Plant
The small plant is a symbol of new life, growth emerging from past destruction. Like a sprout breaking through scorched earth, it shows that change is fertile when you trust the process.
Trumpet
Gabriel’s trumpet is central in both Lieselle’s and Rider-Waite decks. It announces more than change... it calls for accountability, choice, and action. This isn’t just about potential. It’s about making the call, stepping forward, and claiming your space.
In a modern reading, the trumpet also suggests recognition. Your efforts are about to be noticed. Whether it’s fame, a breakthrough, or simply inner validation, it’s time to be seen.

Meaning in a Tarot Reading
When Judgement appears in a spread, it's a sign that your old self is no longer in charge. You’re waking up to something deeper — something that demands honesty, courage, and change.
Awakening & Self-Evaluation
This card invites you to look back without shame and forward without fear. Are you answering your soul’s call? Are you stuck in old roles, or are you ready to level up? The Judgement card often shows up when you’re at a personal crossroads, not just about action, but about identity.
Letting Go of the Past
Rider-Waite depictions show the dead rising, and with them, the idea of being released from the past. You’ve done your time in the dark. Now it’s about releasing guilt, forgiving yourself, and moving on.
Illumination & Clarity
The sun's light represents a spiritual spotlight. There’s no hiding. Truths surface. You finally see things for what they are, and more importantly, see yourself clearly.
New Beginnings & Spiritual Growth
The new plant is your sign that this change has roots. It's not fleeting. Growth is available, but it requires nurturing. This card says: you’ve outgrown who you were.
A Call to Action
The trumpet is loud for a reason. The time for waiting is over. Decisions must be made. Not making a choice is, in itself, a choice. Judgement demands action, and it’s aligned with purpose, not fear.
Recognition & Purpose
The spotlight is shifting toward you. Whether that manifests as praise, a platform, or a deeper understanding of your life’s mission, Judgement says: you’re ready to be known, by others, and by yourself.
